Overview
ABC Wide World of Sports Boxing follows a rookie boxer aiming to climb the professional rankings. By winning bouts and earning money for training and staff, the boxer progresses toward a championship title.
The player begins by creating a boxer, defining appearance, starting attributes, fighting style and preferred punches. Career progression is managed between bouts: a manager arranges fights and takes a share of the purse, while a trainer improves selected abilities. Equipment may be purchased to boost training effectiveness.
Before each match, both fighters’ statistics are presented. Bouts open with a top-down ring view for movement, shifting to a close in-ring view when fighters engage. Punch selection, stance changes and targeting influence damage to head, body and stamina. Knockdowns, knockouts and technical knockouts can end a fight, while full-length bouts are decided by judges’ scoring. An exhibition mode allows single matches outside career play.
