1993 is set around the New Year celebrations for 1993 and features Santa Claus encountering a pair of aliens in space. Santa flies past in his sleigh while alien rockets move above him. Instead of delivering presents, he throws tools to the aliens, who try to catch them as they pass. The player’s success is reflected in how many of these throws are successfully received and how well they manage to impress their unusual visitors.

The player controls Santa Claus in a sleigh positioned along the bottom of the screen while two alien rockets move near the top. Santa repeatedly throws wrenches upward, and the aim is to time each throw so that an alien rocket catches it in flight.

The moving rockets have different speeds and positions, so the player must account for their velocity when deciding when to throw. Catches by the higher of the two rockets are rewarded with more points than those made by the lower one. Every wrench that is successfully caught adds to the score, and the best results are recorded in a top ten high-score table.
