4X4 (Atari)

Overview

4X4 is an unreleased widebody pinball machine with a racing theme developed by Atari Incorporated in 1983. It is the last known pinball machine developed by Atari Inc. and is extremely rare. Only two prototypes were ever produced, and only one is confirmed to still exist today, located at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas.

The game was designed by Milt Loper, and was originally intended to be themed after the movie E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial before being re-themed as a 4x4 racing game.

The machine does not have a traditional manual plunger. The game is divided into heats, and at the start of each heat heat three balls are launched into play simultaneously, and the heat ends only when all three balls have drained.
